What it does
The Bank List API returns the banks in a country with their names, local bank codes, and SWIFT/BIC codes. Call /bank/countries to get the supported countries, each with its ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code and ISO 4217 currency, then call /bank/countries/{country}/banks with a code such as NG, KE, or GR to get that country's list as a data array of id, name, code, and SWIFT.
Coverage spans over 200 countries and territories, and the country code works in upper or lower case. Local bank codes are filled where a country uses them: Nigeria returns the CBN and NIBSS codes payment providers expect, such as 044 for Access Bank and 057 for Zenith Bank. Elsewhere code can be null and the SWIFT/BIC is the identifier to use, so handle both fields as nullable. Lists include banks, microfinance banks, and other institutions registered for SWIFT. An unsupported code returns Unsupported country.
Use the bank list API to build bank dropdowns in payout and beneficiary forms, look up bank codes in Nigeria for transfers, prefill SWIFT codes in onboarding, or map bank names during payment reconciliation.
Check account details with the IBAN Validation API and confirm codes with the SWIFT Code Validator API. For US routing numbers, use the US Bank Routing Number API, and for full country details, the Countries Dictionary API.
