Intelligent Competitor Mapping API

What it does

The Intelligent Competitor Mapping API finds the competitors of any business from its website. Send a URL and get back the company's industry and market niche, a list of its main competitors with the reason each one competes and how much their audiences overlap, and a suggested way to stand out from them.

It is one POST endpoint with a single url field. The results are in the marketAnalysis object: industry gives the broad classification, marketNiche the specific space the business operates in, and competitors a list where each rival has a name, a plain-language reason it was matched, and a likelyOverlap score from 0 to 100. differentiationStrategy adds a short recommendation on how the business could position itself against them. Sending https://slack.com, for example, returns Microsoft Teams with an overlap of 95.

The analysis is generated by AI from what is publicly known about the business, so treat it as a fast starting point for research rather than a final market study. Sort by likelyOverlap to separate direct rivals from adjacent ones, and use reason to check each match before acting on it.

Common uses include researching a prospect's competitors before a sales call, enriching company records in a CRM with industry, niche and main rivals, building a first competitive landscape for a new market, generating "alternatives to" and comparison page ideas, and monitoring how a client's competitive set changes over time.

To compare two specific websites side by side, use the Advanced Website Similarity Analysis API. For SEO data on a competitor's domain, such as traffic and rankings, use the Advanced Domain Analysis API, and to see where the market is heading, try the Market Trends and Growth Forecasting API.

You can try it right here in the playground. Start for free with 5 API calls a day, no card required, and find your own competitors before you commit.

The API is also available through ApyHub MCP, so AI agents can map a company's competitors directly as part of account research or market analysis.
